Discover a World Where Civilisations Meet Under One Iconic Dome
Louvre Abu Dhabi is one of the world’s most celebrated cultural institutions — a universal museum that brings together art, history, and human creativity across time and civilisations. Opened through a landmark partnership between the United Arab Emirates and France, the museum stands as a symbol of cultural dialogue, openness, and shared heritage.
From prehistoric artefacts and ancient manuscripts to Renaissance masterpieces and contemporary artworks, the museum’s permanent collection spans thousands of years of human history. Its innovative curatorial approach presents art through shared human stories rather than geography or era, encouraging deeper understanding across cultures.
Crowned by a striking dome inspired by traditional Islamic architecture, the museum creates a magical “rain of light” effect and a tranquil social space overlooking the sea. Beyond the galleries, Louvre Abu Dhabi offers dynamic programming — from temporary exhibitions and family activities to talks, film screenings, and architectural kayak tours — making every visit a unique experience.

Customer Reviews
Impressive architecture at Saadiyat Island and being an icon there. Exhibits display has been very different than Louvre Paris, but it has been too long ago I went Louvre in Paris. The exhibits here is more of sculptures or some historic artifacts about currency used thousands of years ago. It wasn’t divided by region but a comparison of same or similar artifacts in different countries, seems more of Asia comparison. I didn’t pay attention or did any research of the theme about Louvre AD, which was going with clients. Still a must see there, interesting though.
What an incredible experience. I was in awe of every room. Seeing artefacts from as long as 8000 years ago was incredible. A must visit in Abu Dhabi.
It is located on Saadiyat island and opened in the year 2017. It is first universal museum located in Arab world. There are 55 buildings, with 23 galleries for permanent collections. Permanent galleries have 600 artworks and artifacts. It has works by Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso.
